Meter shows a quantity within a fixed range, like disk usage, quota or a strength score. For the progress of a task, use Progress.

Install

Import it from @/siteplane/components/meter. The project needs Siteplane UI's one-time setup first: installation.

When to pick it

  • vs Progress: Pick Progress instead when the bar tracks how much of an operation has completed.
  • vs Spinner: Pick Spinner instead while something loads or the value is unknown; Meter cannot show an unknown value.

Rules

  • Name the meter with MeterLabel or an aria-label.
  • Set tone yourself when the value crosses a threshold; there are no built-in low, high or optimum levels.
  • Keep value, range and formatting on the root, and let MeterValue display the formatted figure.
  • Include MeterTrack and MeterIndicator yourself when you pass custom children.
